In 2009, Weinig reported a €70 million decline in new orders. Last year, the order backlog amounted to € 270 million, while this year the manufacturer of woodworking machinery expects only € 200 million. For 2010, the market leader in solid wood processing predicts orders worth € 250 million. To counter the crisis, Weinig laid off 400 employees and four out of five employees are working short shifts.
